173rd Day, 192 Days To Come, Sun 22 June:
Today Dad, Bessie, Ester and Gene came over for awhile. Was the first time I had seen dad since he got married. Don wanted Troy to look at an out board motor for the boat so Troy went with them to buy it. Cost $55.00. We payed 45.00 of it & Don made up the rest. Miles, Myrt, Leon & his wife stoped in for awhile when Dad was here. Did all of my white washing today. and am rather tired.
Mon 23 June, 174th Day,191 Days To Come:Mytrle came over today and washed & i finsihed what I had left. Then we walked over to her place & from there we went berry Picking. only got enough for a pie.
195th Day, 190 Days To Come; Tues 24 June: Went in town and payed bills, got the kids both a pair of shoes and swim suits, and home again tired as all get out. Wilma Gold called and wants to come out tomorrow and pick black berries.
Wed 25 June, 176th Day, 189 Days To Come: Took Troy to work and from the mill on in to town to pick up Wilma Folk and her kids. Picked berries till 1Oclock and didn't get very many at that. John came up after work and we all had supper here.
177th Day, 188 Days To Come, Thur 26 June: Alyr called up early this morning and wanted to come out and spend the day. So she came out on the bus. Miles and Myrt took her home. Hank and Daisy were here for awhile and they went with us and Bindara's down on the bay to try out the boat and out board motor. They took the surf board and Kenneth rode it first and then Don.
Fri 27 June, 178th Day, 187 Days To Come: Nothing much doing today. Everett came up in the evening and left his out board motor. I guess we will buy it from him. Troy bought a 33 yr International Truck today payed $95.00 for it. Leon & Pat went with us to pick it up.
179th Day, 186 Days To Come, Sat 28 June: Went to town today with Lilly to see if I could get my watch that I left to get fixed. Guess I'll get it Thur. Left the kids home Was back at 11:45
Sun 29 June, 180th Day, 185 Days To Come Troy worked a half of a day & then helped Don until 6 Oclock on the sea horse (boat). Then Troy had to go back to work for a couple of hours. Hank & Daisy were here for a few hrs in the evening and Leon & Pat walked over for a few min.
Thur 3 July, 184th Day, 181 Days to Come: After working all day at Pat & Leon place we went down to the bay to try out the new boat Don made. Kenneth went on the surf board and fell off and darn near drowned. Sure seemd ages till Don could turn around & get to him.
185th Day, 180 Days To Come, 4 July, Fri Our family and Bindara's went out to Tapps Lakes Sure had a good time. Had both of the motor boats with us and Troy & Don rode the surf board. Troy spilled off of the thing a couple of times, and Jim got a good ducking but Lilly jumped in & pulled her out. We all wanted to stay all nite but, Don wouldn't so we came home about nine Oclock. What Sun burns all burned but Kenneth & I.
Sat 5 July, 186th Day 179 Days To Come Got ready & went out to American Lake after Don & Lilly came from town. Motored over to an island & had lunch and the kids went in swimming. Teh Lake was sure rough when we went over but wasn't bad when we came back.
187th Day, 178 Days To Come, 6 July, Sun Had dinner with Bindaras today, and we all wanted to go swimming but Don. So we all compermized and didn't do. Went up to Bushys after Troy came from the mill. Bushys just back from Silver Lake with some pirch, so Char. & Troy cleaned them & we had supper with them. Jack McLean, Miles & Leon came up for a few min & boy was Jack drunk he stayed all nite. Bet he is sure sick in the morning.
Mon 7 July, 188th Day, 177 Days To Come Jack went home this morning and boy was ne one sick boy. Pat, Jim & I went in town and payed bills. Back from town as Myrt was finishing her washing. Then we went over to Pats and did some papering. Mert. helped 2 hrs today. Called Sis up and asked if she wanted to come over for a week, so guess I'll go after her tomorrow.
189th Day, 176 Days To Come, 8 July, Tues Did my washing this mornin, then dashed into town and had a tire fixed and payed $10.00 on a #15.00 stove for Pat & Leon. Went over to Seattle and got Sis. Mert. & Pat went along with the kids and me. When Troy came home we went swimming with Bendaras out to Tapps Lake.
Wed. 9 July, 190th Day, 175 Days To Come After our work was done today we went over to Pats and worked till Troy came home. After supper we went to look at a place for Donna fay. up by Bushys. Stoped in for a few mins to see Art. and Maxine. DonnaFay & Salt are planing to be married in Aug. and she is trying to get a house in Tacoma because Salt works here at the ship yards.
191st Day, 174 Days To Come, 10 July Thur Stayed home today and ironed then moped and waxed my floors.
193rd DAY, 172 DAYS TO COME, 12 JULY Sat Went out to Sumner to get some cauliflower. Took Daisy, Hank & kids along. Got two flats for 80 cents. Then took Hand & Daisy out to the central Bank. They want to get a loan of $200.00. Came home & canned 19 qts of cauliflower. Then went out & Stayed all nite at Silver lake with Busheys. Art, Maxine, Mike, Lucy, Nick & Bobby came out for awhile. Didn't sleep much all nite and Troy drank too much beer settelings and got sick.
Sun 13 JULY, 194TH DAY, 171 DAYS TO COME Don & Lilly came out to the lake and from Silver Lake we went over to Clear Lake and spent the day. The kids were in the water all day long.
195th DAY, 170 DAYS TO COME, 14 JULY Mon Washed today & was just getting finished when Myrt came. Then she washed.
TUES 15 JULY, 196TH DAY, 169 DAYS TO COME Didn't do a heck of a lot today but complain of the heat. Boy what hot days. Today it was 91. And yesterday it was 90. Am going to can apricots tomorrow.
197th DAY, 168 DAYS TO COME, 16 JULY Wed Canned 25 qrts of apricots and 10 1/2 pts of apricot jam. Pat washed today. But as soon as they get payed then I'm going to tell her she can't wash here any more. She'll have to send it out. Three wash days out of the week is too much of a good thing.
199TH DAY, 166 DAYS TO COME, 18 JULY Fri When Troy came home tonite he said he was on his vacation He has a week off.
201st DAY, 164 DAYS TO COME, 20 JULY Sun Got up bright and early and went out to Lake Ohop. Was out there all day. Had a real good time But darn truck keept heating up all the way there. Sure is a nice lake, guess we will go out and spend our vacation.
Mon 21 JULY, 202 DAY, 163 DAYS TO COME Went in to town with Troy and he went and got Sons & his hair cut, while I payed bills. Also got his eyes tested. Had to go back at 2 Oclock for another test. So we had dinner at the main yon China Café in So. Tacoma. Home and planing to go to the Lake tomorrow for a few days.
203rd DAY, 162 DAYS TO COME, 22 JULY Tuesday Got things all together and started for the Lake around noon. The old truck didn't heat up a bit all the way there. Pitched camp and just layed around untill bed time. Went in swimming at 8 Oclock. The water was fine. But dern near froze all nite.
Wed 23 JULY, 204TH DAY, 161 DAYS TO COME Up and Troy got breakfast, then we went fishing. We caught 57 perch and the kids caught the most of them. We had the dog with us. Back to camp and Troy cleaned fish till he'll see them in his dreams. Don came out in the evening and we gave him what we hadn't ate. All of them went swimming but I and Troy. Trucella had on my bathing suit.
205TH DAY, 160 DAYS TO COME, 24 JULY Thursday Just layed around all day today. Watched the kids in swimming for awhile, but didn't go in my self. Had a big log fire and Mrs Hanson from the next camp came over and sit with us awhile. The kids all played and had a big time. She has 4 children 3 boys and one girl. Went up to Eatonville today and got some Gro. Also got a gal. Of milk for 20 cents. Went and saw Aunt Clara for a few min.
Fri 25 July, 206th DAY, 159 DAYS TO COME Up and boy what a head ach, heaved up all my breakfast. Sure didn't feel very good. Troy went up to Eatonville and tried to call don up, to see if he was going to come up and stay all nite, if not we were going to come home. But he couldn't get him so we didn't go home, and about 7 Oclock they came out and stayed all nite.
207th DAY, 158 DAYS TO COME, 26 JULY Sat Kenneth Don & Troy got up about 4:30 and went fishing, but didn't get any thing. The rest of us got up about 5 Oclock and had breakfast. Then we all went in swimming and after dinner, packed up and came home. Troy gave the straw that we were sleeping on to some campers. Mr & Mrs. Bath. The dern old truck kept heating up all the way home. Went over to Bindara's for a rabbit dinner after we got home.
Sun 27 JULY, 208TH DAY, 157 DAYS TO COME Washed a few dish towels and hand towels out also Troys overalls and jackets. Don't know if Troy will go back to work tomorrow or not. Drove around at Dash Point Stoped and got some bread and then stoped and got some ice cream. Home and in to bed at 8 Oclock. Oh yeah Bob Bennett called and wanted us to go on a picnic with him and his wife today, but I was to tired, so we didn't go.
209th DAY, 156 DAYS TO COME, 28 JULY Mon I washed today from 7:30 till 1:30. Had so many shirts & blankets from being out at the Lake. Daisy called and wanted me to see if I could get Loraine Pike to care for her kids Because Daisy is working again at the Pickle factory. Couldn't get Loraine so Trucella said she would take the job but backed out at the last min. so I took the kids for tonite.and am going to go up to Weeds to see if Virginia wants the job. Myrt & Miles were here for awhile & I told Myrt she could wash till payday but after that she would have to send it out.
Myrt washed today and in the after noon Hank & Daisy came after their kids. They were here for dinner. Went up to Weeds to see if Virginia was going to take care of their kids, But she was going to Seattle for 2 weeks so she couldn't take the job. But she gave Daisy a number of a girl to call at Fife. So they started out to see if they cold get her, if not they are going to take the kids out to Hanks Mother.
Mon 4 AUGUST, 216TH DAY, 149 DAYS TO COME Washed today and sure had every thing in the wash too.
217th Day, 148 DAYS TO COME, 5 AUGUST, Tuesday Ironed today and cleaned cupboard Then it was time to get supper.
Wed 6 AUGUST, 218TH DAY, 147 DAYS TO COME Went in town today and payed bills, and got some Gro.
Fri 8 AUGUST, 220TH DAY, 145 DAYS TO COME Went in town today and tried to get Jim a permanent But they were too busy so made and appointment for 10:30 tomorrow. Then Mert & I & Jim went all over town hunting for a dress that she could wear, for flower girl at Florence’s wedding Finaly found one that was real cute. Have got to get the ret of her outfit before the 27th of Aug.
221st Day, 144 DAYS TO COME, 9 AUGUST, Sat Went in town today and got Jims permanent at the Little Paris in So. Tacoma. Then stoped at Shoenfields & got Sis a electric iron for a wedding present.
Sun 10 AUGUST, 222nd DAY, 143 DAYS TO COME Well today I’m 28 yrs old and my baby sister is getting married. Went to the reception at Dads for Sis & her hubby. She got some nice presents. Had some ice cream & cake. She had a beautifull wedding cake. Met a old friend of the familys from Idaho at Sis wedding. John Steinhouse. He is soldering at Ft Lewis. When we came home Dad and all the gang came over thinking they could get a house for the kids, but it turned out to be false alarm. Hope they get by themselves before long.
223rd Day, 142 DAYS TO COME, 11 AUGUST, Mon Washed today and about the time my clothes were getting dry, it bein to rain so I had to dry the most of them in the house.
225th Day, 140 DAYS TO COME, 13 AUGUST, Wed Worked in the yard all day today. Dad & gang come over about the house for the kids but didn’t find any thing as yet.
Sat 16th AUGUST, 228th DAY, 137 DAYS TO COME Worked in the yard some today. but didn’t do much of anything else 229th Day, 136 DAYS TO COME, 17 AUGUST, Sun Worked in the yard all day till about 2 Oclock then Bindaras & us went out to lake Tapps till 8 Oclock.
Mon 18 AUGUST, 230th DAY, 135 DAYS TO COME Washed today and in the evening troy tore the truck down to see what the matter was and then Busheys came down for awhile. Leon over in the evening saying Pat was sick in bed.
231st Day, 134 DAYS TO COME, 19 AUGUST, Tues Lilly & I went over to Pats and stayed with her till 10 O clock then I came home & did my ironing and Lilly swept for me. Over to Pats at noon & she is running a fever so called the Dr. He came out in the evening and told them she was to go to the hospital so Leon & I took her at nine O clock. Leon stayed over nite with us.
Wed 20th AUGUST, 232nd DAY, 133 DAYS TO COME Up and did my work then over to Pats and did up the dishes and cleaned her house up a little. Then came home and layed down for a hr. Went over to Lillys and helped her clean cupboard and do up her house work. Oh yes wrote a letter to Sis this morning.
233rd Day, 132 DAYS TO COME, 21 AUGUST, Thurs Wend in town today and did some shoping for some school clothes also payed bills. Lilly and I had all four kids with us and I got so nervous that we all went to a show. Saw Little Sheppard of the Hills. Stoped at the mill & left the ford & came on home with Don in the Plymouth. They worked on the truck and put in a new timing chain also took up some bearings. Don is going to take it when they go camping next week.
Fri 22nd AUGUST, 234th DAY, 131 DAYS TO COME Left the kids with Lilly today and Went in town with Myrtle to finish getting the kids school things. Pat came home from the hospital last nite so this morning I & Lilly went over & got her & brought her to Lillys before I went in town. Had to go after Troy tonite as he worked 2 hours over time.
235th Day, 130 DAYS TO COME, 23 AUGUST, Sat Troy worked today and after work we drove out to Ohop Lake where Bindara’s were. They left this after noon for the lake at 1 O clock. Stayed all nite & had to sleep cross ways of the bed. All the guys feet hung over because the bed was too short but it didin’t bother me. I faired out pretty good.
Sun 24th AUGUST, 236th DAY, 129 DAYS TO COME Troy, Don, and the Bindara kid got up at 5 O clock and went fishing. But Lilly & I stayed in bed till 8 O clock. Then we got up and got breakfast. The guys went in swimming just before dinner & did they have fun with a couple of inner tubes. Came home about 7 Oclock and feed Bindaras live stock. and so into bed.
237th Day, 128 DAYS TO COME, 25 AUGUST, Mon Didn’t do a great deal today. Spent the hole day sewing. Pat came over for awhile and Daisy and Hank droped in for a few min. They wanted to borrow the oil camp stove. But Bindara’s had it.
Tues 26th AUGUST, 238th DAY, 127DAYS TO COME Up and did my washing but before I got it done Salt and Sis drove over. They are going to stay for a few days and Sis is going to go in town here and get her a range and table and chairs. Tomorrow I have to fix charlenes hair & press her dress so to get her ready for Florence’s wedding. Today Bendara’s came home from Lake Ohop. Guess it rained them out it has been raining for the last 2 days. 239th
Day, 126 DAYS TO COME, 27 AUGUST, Wed Florence Grover came today and stayed for a while. Then I took her out to So. Tacoma. got back at 5 Oclock and her mother & Roger were here. She had Art Harding drive them out to Sumner so she could get dressed for her wedding. After supper we got ready and I got Jim ready. as she was flower girl in the wedding. She sure had a beautifull wedding. We stayed for part of the reception, and then home to bed.
Thurs 28th AUGUST, 240th DAY, 125 DAYS TO COME Salt and Sis went home this morning. Salts Dad was sick.
241st Day, 124 DAYS TO COME, 29 AUGUST, Fri Went in town today and got some peaches, plums and then homem and caned some of them. Some were to green to can. Pat and Leon were here and helped me can them.
243rd Day, 122 DAYS TO COME, 31 AUGUST, Sun Troy had to work today so I caned some peaches that were too green to can last week. The kids helped me and we were done in no time. also put up some plum butter. Went out to Hammekens with some eggs for Miles, Because his car was tore down. Then on out to John Folks to get my granite dish pan. didn’t stay at either place because it was getting late & time for Troy to come home.
Mon 1 SEPTEMBER, 244th DAY, 121 DAYS TO COME Troy didn’t work at the mill today, but worked all day digging a hole for the toilet and then in the after noon moved it. I went after my cucumbers I had ordered and all after noon I caned pickles. Don & Lilly went fishing in the sound and got a lot of rock cod. gave us 5 of them which Troy cleaned & we had for supper. They were sure good.
245th Day, 120 DAYS TO COME, 2 SEPTEMBER,Tues Took the door off of the toilet and sawed some of it off so it would go shut. also sawed my hand and made it good and sore. Salt brought Sis over so she could can the peaches I got for her. She wanted me to buy some for her with the money she left here. also caned some dills and relish. Sis told me she was expecting a baby, and when She questioned me, I told her I was too. We are about 3 or 3 ½ months apart.
Wed 3 SEPTEMBER, 246th DAY, 119 DAYS TO COME Sent the kids to school this morning and were they glad to go. They could hardly wait till the bus came. I did a big washing and had to hang them up stairs in the garage. Caned some pickels and did my house work. Moped up some floors just as the kids came from school. They got home at 2 Oclock today. I’m rather tired tonite, but guess I’ll feel alrite in the morning.
249th Day, 116 DAYS TO COME, 6 SEPTEMBER, Sat Troy worked a half of a day today, in the after noon I went & got another box of peaches to can also 22 lbs of sting beans to can. didn’t get done till about 10:30 tonite.
Sun 7 SEPTEMBER, 250th DAY, 115 DAYS TO COME Troy did work today. We stayed home and he monkied with the out board motor nearly all day. Dad & Bessie & Gene & Ester drove over in the evening. They went home at 10 Oclock.
251st Day, 114 DAYS TO COME, 8 SEPTEMBER, Mon Myrt & I went in town today and I payed bills and done some shopping.
253rd Day, 112 DAYS TO COME, 10 SEPTEMBER, Wed Sewed all day today and did my ironing. Was going to can pears but the basement was locked and I couldn’t get any jars. as Troy carries the key.
Thur 11 SEPTEMBER, 254th DAY, 111 DAYS TO COME Caned some pears and moped the house then waxed floors. Finished up my pillow slips in the evening. Troy played with a lathe he got from Al Englehart all evening long. Made a buzz saw and sawed up some wood also.
255th Day, 110 DAYS TO COME, 12 SEPTEMBER, Fri Did up my house work then went over to Myrts and stayed a while. Then I & her went up to the Library.
Sat 13 SEPTEMBER, 256th DAY, 109 DAYS TO COME Went out to Andres today and got 2 apple boxes of pears to can. Thot one of the boxes were ripe enough to can today but will have to let them stand a few days.
257th Day, 108 DAYS TO COME, 14 SEPTEMBER, Sun Troy worked today and didn’t’ get home till after 8 Oclock. Boy what a long day. Didn’t do much all day,which made the day seem longer.
Mon 15 SEPTEMBER, 258th DAY, 107 DAYS TO COME Jim stayed home today from school. She has such a cold, Thot I’d try Doctor her up. Did a washing also caned up 40 quarts of pears. Didn’t get done till after Troy came from work.
259th Day, 106 DAYS TO COME, 16 SEPTEMBER, Tues Did my ironing today also dashed into town and got my self a pair of stockings so I could take the kids to the fair tomorrow. I guess Mert will go with us. Also Loraine & Joana Pike.
Wed 17 SEPTEMBER, 258th DAY, 105 DAYS TO COME Went to the fair today. Left the house at 7:30 this morning cause I had to be back at 3:30. The kids had a nice time but Charlene was sick when she came home.
261st Day, 104 DAYS TO COME, 18 SEPTEMBER, Thurs Did some sewing today and made Son a shirt. and patched a few dresses for Jim. Daisy and kids came up in the evening and we hemed a flair skirt for Gerry.
Sun 21 SEPTEMBER, 264th DAY, 101 DAYS TO COME Dad and Bessie over in the evening also Salt and Fay. Didn’t stay long. Went over to Miles for awhile before they went home. Sis and Salt said they were getting discusted waiting for Charlie Powell to finish the house so they were starting to save Money enough to buy our place that Maxine & Art are in. Said they could have enough by the last of Oct.
265th Day, 100 DAYS TO COME, 22 SEPTEMBER, Mon Troy laid off today and we went in town. He had his final eye test so he can get his glasses. He gets them Wed. evening. He bought the kids an automatic record player, which he installed in the big Victorola.
Tues 23 SEPTEMBER, 266th DAY, 99 DAYS TO COME Washed today and Oh Boy wht a washing. Didn’t tink I’d ever get done. Did the most of my ironing in the after noon.
267th Day, 98 DAYS TO COME, 24 SEPTEMBER, Wed Daisy came up today before I got the kids off to school and I went home with her and helped her & Hank paper the front room. didn’t get it all done but Daisy went after Ma Harding after she brought me home and they finished it. Troy went in and got his glasses tonite after work. Cost him 18.64
Thurs 25 SEPTEMBER, 268th DAY, 97 DAYS TO COME Myrt and I went in town today and I got some goods to cover my daven port and a few other things. Jim stayed to a girl Scout meeting tonite after school.
Sat 27 SEPTEMBER, 270th DAY, 95 DAYS TO COME Covered my Davenport to day. Don’t look bad at all. Makes it look smaller. I can see a lot of mistake I made in it 11 but the next one I’ll know better how to do it. Took me all day so I didn’t get any thing else done. Oh yes Troy didn’t come home till late so I started my Grape jelly and made 28 pints of jell.
271st Day, 94 DAYS TO COME, 28 SEPTEMBER, Sun Stayed around home all day today. Troy didn’t work. He fooled around out side while I finished up my jelly and did some baking.
Mon 29 SEPTEMBER, 272nd DAY, 93 DAYS TO COME Did my washing today and when I was about done Myrt came over and in the after noon we did some sewing. I hemed my coat up while she fixed a skirt for herself. Made a batch of cookies and when Jim came home she baked them while I did up the house work. Myrt said she was over to Seattle yesterday. Dad & Bessie aren’t on their vacation yet.
273rdDay, 92 DAYS TO COME, 30 SEPTEMBER, Tues Daisy called up today and wanted me to help her cover her Daven port so I went down about 11 Oclock. Didn’t get finished so Troy & I went back in the evening and I and Daisy finished it then. Troy and Hank fooled with a water pump that Hank bought They finaly got their well dug.
Wed 1 OCTOBER, 274TH DAY, 91 DAYS TO COME Today I ironed and cleaned out the kids bed room. and boy did I get rid of a lot of junk. Washed & ironed the curtains in their room too.
275th Day, 90 DAYS TO COME, 2 OCTOBER, Thur Didn’t do anything today but lay around. Had a pain in my side but it went away along toward evening. Got a letter from Sis saying she would have the money on the 16th of this month to buy our other place. Went up to Arts in the evening to tell him but they weren’t home so Troy will see him at the mill tomorrow. Kinda hate to tell the kids to get out. They are two swell kids.
277th Day, 88 DAYS TO COME, 4 OCTOBER, Sat Cleaned up the house thru out and then in the evening Daisy & the family came up. Knute & Miles were over in the evening to tell Troy the welders would hold a meeting at 9:30 Sun. morning. I guess Troy is going to go and join up with them.
Sun 5 OCTOBER, 278TH DAY, 87 DAYS TO COME Up at 8:30 and hurried thru breakfast so Troy could go to town. He didn’t back till 2 Oclock and then he went over to Glens for awhile. I wanted to go over to see Sis bur didn’t say any thing. Didn’t have any reason for going, only that I wanted too.
279th Day, 86 DAYS TO COME, 6 OCTOBER, Mon Went in town today took Daisy along Ordered some coat material, so as to make my self a coat. Can’t get my old one around me.
Tues 7 OCTOBER, 280TH DAY, 85 DAYS TO COME Wased and got my clothes dry in between showers Did almost all my ironing too.
281st Day, 84 DAYS TO COME, 8 OCTOBER, Wed my coat material came today so I cut the pattern out, but didn’t sew any on it.
Thur 9 OCTOBER, 282nd DAY, 83 DAYS TO COME Sewed nearly all day today. When Troy came home he come in limping. He turned his ankle and then fell on it. He says it aches just like a tooth aches. I washed his foot and then put liniment on it.
283rd Day, 82 DAYS TO COME, 10 OCTOBER, Fri Troy stayed home today and I drove him up to see the Dr. to see if he had any broken bones in his foot. But Dr says no, only a very bad strain. Told him he could go back to work. Drove out on the Seattle High way and had lunch ten home when the kids came from school.
Sat 11 OCTOBER, 284th DAY, 81 DAYS TO COME I and the kids spent the hole day washing the walls, ceiling and cupboards in the kitchen. Troy worked until 6:30 tonite.
285th Day, 80 DAYS TO COME, 12 OCTOBER, Sun Troy had to work today just got my house work done when Salt & Fay came over, they didn’t stay long. Had lunch with and the kids. I took a ride up to Charoletts after they left saw Doris & Roy. It’s the first time I’ve saw them since they came from Maine. Hank and Daisy were up in the evening.
Mon 13 OCTOBER, 286th DAY, 79 DAYS TO COME Washed clothes today, Then went in town to get Son’s shoes half soled. They didn’t have to go to go to school today. In the evening we went to a show in South Tacoma saw the true story of Knute Rockne and his foot ball career.
287th Day, 78 DAYS TO COME, 14 OCTOBER, Tues Washed the wood work and the drapes in the front room today then did my ironing. Took care of Jackie while Hank & Daisy went to a funeral. They were here for supper.
293rd Day, 72 DAYS TO COME, 20 OCTOBER, Mon Sis & Salt came over this monrin just as I was finishing my washing Salt & Miles are going to a union meeting tonite.
Tues 21 OCTOBER, 294th DAY, 71 DAYS TO COME Donna fay & I went in town today, I payed bills & then after wards we bought a few baby things for her expected baby and mine. Came home & had supper then Troy, kid & I went to a show. Salt & Sis stayed home.
295th Day, 70 DAYS TO COME, 22 OCTOBER, Wed Helped Donna fay cut out a baby nite gown pattern and then she and Salt went home. I did up my work and made a dress for Jim.
Mon 27 OCTOBER, 300th DAY, 65 DAYS TO COME Was going to wash today but didnt have any soap. & then I didn’t feel so hot any way. Hank & Daisy came up about 10 Oclock and wanted to leave the kids. They had to go to their Uncle Jakes funeral. They came after the kids at 5 Oclock.
301st Day, 64 DAYS TO COME, 28 OCTOBER, Tues Washed today & had to hang all of them in the garage. Myrt came over and washed the wood work in my bedroom. The timbers up over head were too high for me to reach just now. Baby only a month and half away.
Wed 29 OCTOBER, 302nd DAY, 63 DAYS TO COME Did up my work and then drove Lilly and Helen down to the Winthrop Garage to get Helens car, then I went on up to the Library for awhile. Stoped in town and got some sewing thread on home & did a little sewing.
303rd Day, 62 DAYS TO COME, 30 OCTOBER, Thurs Kids were out of school today on account of the parade. Myrt, I, and the kids went in town and darn near froze watchin the parade. When we come home Fay & husband were here Salt got his finger hurt at the yards so took him up to see a Dr. They went home after Troy came from work.

Sun 27 JULY, 208TH DAY, 157 DAYS TO COME Washed a few dish towels and hand towels out also Troys overalls and jackets. Don't know if Troy will go back to work tomorrow or not. Drove around at Dash Point Stoped and got some bread and then stoped and got some ice cream. Home and in to bed at 8 Oclock. Oh yeah Bob Bennett called and wanted us to go on a picnic with him and his wife today, but I was to tired, so we didn't go. 209th DAY, 156 DAYS TO COME, 28 JULY Mon I washed today from 7:30 till 1:30. Had so many shirts & blankets from being out at the Lake. Daisy called and wanted me to see if I could get Loraine Pike to care for her kids Because Daisy is working again at the Pickle factory. Couldn't get Loraine so Trucella said she would take the job but backed out at the last min. so I took the kids for tonite.and am going to go up to Weeds to see if Virginia wants the job. Myrt & Miles were here for awhile & I told Myrt she could wash till payday but after that she would have to send it out.
Sun 5 OCTOBER, 278TH DAY, 87 DAYS TO COME Up at 8:30 and hurried thru breakfast so Troy could go to town. He didn’t back till 2 Oclock and then he went over to Glens for awhile. I wanted to go over to see Sis bur didn’t say any thing. Didn’t have any reason for going, only that I wanted too. 
Thur 9 OCTOBER, 282nd DAY, 83 DAYS TO COME Sewed nearly all day today. When Troy came home he come in limping. He turned his ankle and then fell on it. He says it aches just like a tooth aches. I washed his foot and then put liniment on it. 283rd Day, 82 DAYS TO COME, 10 OCTOBER, Fri
